Networking on Science and Technology in the Black Sea Region (BS-ERA.NET) Funded under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Community
The BS-ERA.NET is a network designed to develop and strengthen the coordination of public research (funding) programmes conducted at national and regional level between EU Member States and Associated Countries and countries of the Black Sea region. It is being funded by the European Commission for a duration of 36 months (January 2009 – December 2011).
Project Objectives
The main aims of the project are: • To reduce the fragmentation of the European Research Area (ERA) by improving the coherence and coordination of national and regional research programmes; • To develop and strengthen the coordination of public research programmes conducted at national and regional level with a focus on a group of countries from the extended Black Sea region; • To sustain communication in order to develop better reciprocal knowledge and to promote trust-building among programme owners and/or managers through a mutual learning process and a systemic exchange of information and good practice; • To enhance the links and synergies between the Framework Programme and activities carried out within governmental structures such as COST, EUREKA, NEP, UNESCO-BRESCE or EIROforum; • To build up a network at national and regional research programme level in order to enhance cooperation within the framework of the Black Sear Research Programme (BSRP) and the development and implementation of joint programmes and activities in the region.
Project Partnership
The BS-ERA.NET is coordinated by the National Centre for Programme Management, Romania. Apart from the ICBSS, the 17 partners of this project include national authorities responsible for S&T cooperation from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Germany, Hellenic Republic, Italy, Malta, Moldova, Turkey, and Ukraine.
