1st Annual Conference, Rhodes 2006

The First ICBSS Annual Conference aptly titled

“The Black Sea Region: Quo Vadis?
took place on the Greek island of Rhodes on 7-8 July 2006.

Conceived as the inaugural session in a series of annual events, the Conference was devoted to a general overview of the current developments in the wider Black Sea space, the role and prospects of the Organisation of the BSEC, and the contribution of the academic community towards informed, science-based policy making in a regional and broader international context. The Conference was attended by government ministers and senior officials, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, senior representatives of regional and international organisations, scholars and academics. The Annual Conference 2006 also saw the official launch of the Black Sea Research Network.
